REBIRTH OF THE GHANA SOCIETY OF DERMATOLOGY

Abstract

Ghana officially known as the Republic of Ghana is o v e r e i g n  unitary presidential
constitutional democracy, located along the
Gulf of Guinea and Atlantic Ocean, in the West
African Sub region. Spanning a land mass of 238,535
km2, Ghana is bordered by the Ivory Coast (Cote
d'voire) in the west, Burkina Faso in the north, Togo
in the east and the Gulf of Guinea and Atlantic Ocean
in the south. Ghana's health system boasts of
primary, secondary and tertiary care with most
specialists providing tertiary care. One group of
specialists, the dermatologists are very few with a
doctor patient ratio of about 1:1,000,000. This write
up describes the formation of the Ghana Society of
Dermatology.
